I’ve made it through my second week but it hasn’t been easy.
Motivation has been a subject that has come up, with lots of people saying well done for keeping going. So here is my reason why, you guys. If it wasn’t for the fact that after each run and walk I post it on my Instagram account and at the end of each day I post up my step counts I think I could easily just stay in bed. However, annoying as it may be for some, being public about what I am doing gives my more desire and motivation to do it. I hope that once I start seeing more results like weight loss this will spur me on even more
Monday – 2 minute run, 1 minute walk for 30 minutes
This morning I headed out feeling confident. I had decided to make my route longer to make sure I was out for 30 minutes, however this didn’t happen and I was only out for just over 24 minutes. I had Rufus with me and found the continued stop, sniff and start that he did hard work. I found the actual running for 2 minutes at a time easier than I thought I would, although I do have to alter my route
Tuesday – 30 minute walk
Today I made a mistake, I was tired and wanted to enjoy a relaxing evening at home and have a nice bath, but I have children so this was never going to go to plan. I had been out in the afternoon and done a walk with the children so decided this would count. However it meant I didn’t get that time for me and also walking with young children involves a lot of stopping to look around
Wednesday – 3 minute run, 1 minute walk for 30 minutes
Today I didn’t want to get out of bed, even more annoying was that for a change at 6am no one else was a wake in the house, but I got up and headed out. My knee was feeling stiff and I really did consider turning around and coming home, I was only at the bottom of the street. I carried on and didn’t have a problem with my knee. I had choosen a longer route and to not take Rufus this morning. However it only took me 20 minutes, so taking him obviously slows me up. I am glad I got up and out as the rest of the day was wet and horrid, plus I was stuck inside at soft play
Thursday – 30 minute walk
This morning Beatrix had had her first set of immunisations, so after a very difficult afternoon. My walk in the evening was very much needed, although it was a walk up to the shop for some calpol and wine, not both for me 🙂 I have found a walk in the summer evening very helpful after a hectic day at hoe
Friday – 4 minute run, 1 minute walk for 30 minutes
Today I change my route again, in hope that it would be longer in time, 4 minutes I knew would be hard but I knew I could do it it if I tried. The first interval was good, I kept good pace and found that I didn’t really struggle. My feet were a little achy and I had a thought in my mind that they would get worse but they actually felt better as the run went on. However as the run went on I found the pace harder to keep up and I had to really push myself. I did towards the end have to stop my running for walking to help me recover but I did keep trying to go back to my running and felt like I put a good effort in. The training is defiantly getting harder.
Saturday – 30 minute walk
I did this as our weekend family walk at our local forestry commission site. It was a little longer than it needed to be, but it is nice for all the family to get out in the fresh air and enjoy ourselves. I must admit I often find this route a challenge as it it is up hill a lot but today I found it much easier, I feel that I am getting fitter.
Week two is over and I have to say it was harder than I thought it would be, but I did better than I thought I would. I am much more confident about my ability for next week, I just have to find some longer routes to reach my 30 minute target.
